Alternatively, you may make a donation now through the Charities Aid Foundation.

Important Safety Notice

Please be careful when as you walk around the show as there will be times of the day when vehicles will be manoeuvring on the show ground and you should be alert as to what is happening around you.  In particular, ensure children are made aware and dogs kept on a lead.

Also, as the site is natural common land the surface is uneven and the organisers cannot be held responsible for trips and falls.

Location

The show is held on Harpenden Common which runs from the centre of the town, south, alongside the A1081 towards St Albans.  The nearest post code is AL5 2JF.

Date and time

Wednesday 26 July 2023.  The classic vehicles arrive in two main tranches from 11.30 a.m. and from 2.00 p.m.  Most vehicles are in position from 3.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. when the first vehicles may leave.

Visitor Parking

There is a free car park on the former Harpenden Rovers football field in Cravells Road which will be served by a free shuttle bus operated by Harpenden Hopper from 12.30 to 20.00, dropping off at the Fire Station.

Otherwise, please use the town centre pay car parks operated by St Albans District Council, the nearest of which is at the Harpenden Leisure Centre, vehicle access off Amenbury Lane.

Premium Parking

Limited parking is available on the part of the Common off Leyton Road, opposite Park Hall at £10 per vehicle for the duration of your stay.  Also, at Harpenden Cricket Club adjacent to the south side of the Common, accessed off the A1081.  Cars must leave by 21.00.

Disabled Parking (Blue Badge)

There is limited parking at the main entrance to the Common off the A1081, opposite the Silver Cup. An alternative, and easier to access, is on-street parking which has been reserved on Southdown Road opposite the old Harpenden Public Halls, adjacent to the Harpenden Common ‘triangle’. When these are full the council car park off Amenbury Lane is the nearest to the Common.

Emergencies

An emergency mobile phone number can be found on the back of the easels that are advertising the charities and on the money collection signs. This number takes you to a member of the organising team. Typically this would be used for a medical emergency.

First Aid

There is a first aid post for minor injuries and for emergencies, staffed by qualified paramedics. An ambulance is also located on site.  The First Aid marquees can be found to the left of the Reception desk next to the police display.  Ask at the Reception desk for it to be pointed out.

Lost Children

Lost children can be recovered from the Reception desk, where two DBS-qualified staff are based. The police will be informed and your child will be looked after until collected.  You may also pick up a lost child wristband on which you can write your mobile phone number.  If one of these is worn by your child, we will phone that number when the child is found.

Public Toilets

There are portable public toilets on the main Common site.  Also, there are public toilets in the centre of Harpenden and in the restaurants, cafes and bars.

Food and drink

A range of takeaway foods, including ice cream, will be available across the two Common areas.
